How straightforward and trustworthy is this company?

- There are product reviews on the Hemp Bombs website.
- On Trustpilot, they have a 2.3-star rating based on 9 reviews.
- With the Better Business Bureau they have a D+ standing, aren’t accredited, a 4-star rating based on one review, and have had no complaints in the last 12 months.
Hemp Bombs talks a lot about doing everything in-house and all the supposed benefits. In reality, a parent company (Global Widget) makes all of the Hemp Bombs products, along with them making products for various other companies, in Global Widget’s facility (screenshot 1, screenshot 2).
- I can’t find any info on the extraction process (how they pull the CBD from the hemp). Please see Product Safety for details.
- There are a few false product therapeutic claims, which is against FDA guidelines (example screenshot, FDA guidelines screenshot).
Ingredients
Are they natural and high-quality?
There are five all-natural flavor options for the oil drops including orange creamsicle (the chocolate mint isn’t all-natural).
All of the Hemp Bombs products are made with CBD isolate so there’s no entourage effect (screenshot definition).
The CBD Gummies, Pain Freeze Topical and Chill Shot drinks all have artificial ingredients.
There’s no “plain CBD” capsules option without L-theanine and GABA. The amounts of these additives are listed as “proprietary” so there’s no way for consumers to know how much of it they would actually be consuming. Yikes!
There’s no ingredients list for the lollipops.
Lab Testing
Is there Certificate of Analysis (COA) lab testing?
Lab testing results are only available if you’ve already purchased a product and have the batch number.
I don’t know why Hemp Bombs is withholding lab results, but here’s a screenshot with the top-3 most common reasons why, based on my experience.
Oddly, when I did an initial review about 16 months ago, the lab testing results were available. Back then, I found a wide range of problems including testing results for the incorrect product, the detection of multiple residual solvents in various products, contaminants testing being skipped, and so on. I have no idea if those same problems still exist but I’d suggest proceeding with caution.
Product Safety
What are the results of the COA lab testing?
It’s probably safe to say that solvents are still the extraction method since prior available lab testing showed a detection of residual solvents including Isopropyl Alcohol, N-Hexane, Toluene, Xylenes, Ethanol, and Pentane (example screenshot).
